Mid-Century Copper Art

Currently, I have this vintage, mid-century hammered copper wall art, for sale.

The stylised ram, sculptural piece measures 91.5 x 56 cm. It is a quality heavy piece, signed 'Glover'.

It does have patina, light verdigris due to its age. On close inspection it reflects many colours of the spectrum.

I do admire the boldness and brutality of the hammered technique and design. The stylised ram is reminiscent of neolithic art.

The earthenware beaker below is from the neolithic period c 5000 - 4000 B.C.E.

Whilst learning about neolithic art in art history classes. I was blown away with the richness of their intellectual and artistic pursuits within the neolithic cultural heritage.

Collectors of this copper art style are attracted to the works of Curtis Jeré. The name is a compound nom-de-plume of artists Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels. The two founders combined pieces of their own names to create the C. Jeré signature. An example below is a 1977 piece titled Firmament.
